All About Sunday School .......

The Sunday School was initially run by a trio of Mrs. Annie Vergis, Mrs. Sini Anand and Suni Roy (James). The need to nurture the young kids in the way of the faith was strong and it led to a strong and again talented Sunday School, many of the kids moving on the be part of the excellent Youth wing. Subsequently the husband wife duo of Bejoy and Sheeja took over the running of the Sunday School after which Mrs.Anila Sankey was appointed as the first headmistress of the Sunday School in the year 2005. The grooming of the Children for the Carol Programme in the Kozhi Palli and participation in the United Theological College (UTC) Inter Church Competition was a regular and professional process. This was seen in the number of Prizes that our kids won in these Competitions over the years. The VBS Programme grew and developed over the years and now is on one of the biggest VBS programmes conducted in our part of the
city with Children from other denominations and faiths regularly attending the programme. Mrs. Sini Anand followed Mrs. Anila Sankey and Mrs. Pearl George as head and now Mrs. Mariamma Ittyerah is the Headmistress with Mr. Shinu Abraham, an active and able Secretary

Our Academic year is from January to December and an annual Sunday school assessment is held in November. The vacation is declared twice in the academic year (April – May & November second week till December 31st). The class Commences for new academic year on 1st Sunday of January.

TIMINGS:      10.15 AM – 11.30 AM
Sunday school is held after the Sunday morning worship service and it is conducted in the Church and the basement. We begin the day with a time of praising and worshipping God. Our lively and enthusiastic youth members lead us in singing Sunday school songs, hymns and choruses which concludes with closing in prayer. Our students and teachers then break off into their respective groups for their half-hour class/lessons.

We follow the “SPLASH” series published by Christian Education department of Evangelical Fellowship of India (CEEFI).  This Bible – based curriculum is graded for different age groups.

During the course of the academic year, the children are encouraged to participate in class-wise competitions in a healthy spirit of camaraderie in order to use and nurture their God-given talents.

The various competitions conducted during the academic year are:

Bible quiz, Singing Competition, Painting/Coloring Competition, Memory Verse Competition, Storytelling competitions.
Additionally, Harvest Festival, celebrations for World Sunday School Sunday, UTC Competitions, Scripture contest and Christmas Carol Service are some more events during which our children and teachers play active roles.
